10:00AM to 12 noon – Buzz About Bees!

This program for home school children will examine the fascinating, important work of pollinators. Following a lesson in the historic lecture hall, there will be scavenger hunts, bee-themed games, and active bee hive demonstrations.  Space is limited; registration is required, but there is no cost.  Email reservations@wagnerfreeinstitute.org by September 3 to register for the program. Please include name, contact info, and the number of children & adults.

5:00 to 7:00 PM – Honey Happy Hour (for adults)
Meet us in the Wagner yard for a sweet Honey Happy Hour. This year there will be honey-brewed beer samples from the Philly Home Brew Outlet, Earth Bread + Brewery, and Tired Hands Brewing Company. And what kind of Honey Happy Hour would it be without mead? Colony Meadery will also be on site with samples to share.

In addition to beer tastings there will be

5:30 pm Open Hive Demonstration

6:00 pm Honey Extraction Demonstration

6:30 pm Bee Beard with Don Shump of Philadelphia Bee Company

Featuring a photo exhibit by beekeeper Yovina Tanamas-Miller, honey tasting and sales, and more!

Venue Coordinator:  Lynn Dorwalt: lynnD@wagnerfreeinstitute.org
