We all know they are three Historic properties. yeah….yeah….We all know they host the Philadelphia Honey Festival every year…yeah…yeah…BUT…
But, did you know they each have bee hives and beekeepers? All three locations have a long history of having honey bee colonies on site and this history is maintained by today’s beekeepers.
Sam Torres of Keystone Colonies watches the hives at Glen Foerd. Jeff Eckle of Instar Apiaries has been keeping bees at Wyck House for many years. Bartram’s Garden has numerous hives, some are attended by Guild members Leslie Gale and Mark Berman.
So, you can see, it really makes sense to have a honey festival where honey is made and we are grateful that Glen Foerd, Wyck House and Bartram’s Garden do such a nice job!. (Oh yeah, the honey bees too!)
