10:00 am – 12:00 pm – Colonial Candle Maker – Learn how to make beeswax candles!

11:00 amAll Mead Contest Entries must be submitted at the mead tent in the Rose Garden

11:00 am – 1:00 pm Sing-a-Long   Provided by Lynn Mather, who will delight us with an English Concertina.  For all Ages!

11:00 am- 3:00 pm Ongoing Children’s Activities –  Join us in the shaded area close to the carriage house for educational and fun BEE activities!

10:30 am – Bee Beard!  Don Shump, owner of the Philadelphia Bee Company will create a beard of bees on his face!

11:30 am Honey Extraction – How Do You Get the Honey Away From the Bees? Watch as honey is taken from the honey comb.  (in the Educational Building)

12:00 pm- 4:00 pm – The Mead Tent is Open and the Experts are In! Join Honey Festival Sponsors Colony Meadery and  Philly Home Brew as they:

  • Sample mead
  • Share how to make mead
  • Judge the mead contest

Also in the Mead Tent will be Young American Ciders!

12:30 pm – Open Hive Talk – What’s Going On In There?  Join us at the bee hives by the greenhouses to take a look inside a hive!

1:00 pm  Keynote Speaker : Dion Lerman will present a talk entitled:  Keeping the Critters Down: Integrated Pest Management for Everyone. This workshop will introduce Integrated Pest Management (IPM), an effective and economical process that minimizes the use of pesticides and emphasizes prevention. IPM is used successfully on farms, in gardens, and in homes. This session will focus on homes, and control of common pests, while protecting the health of people (especially children), pets, and the rest of the planet.
